| About Us |
After twelve years of working in the college bookstore market,
in late 1997, I had the unique opportunity to start a company of
my own.. It was literally done on a moments notice. My husband
asked, "If you do this what do you want to name the company?" I responded
that I'd always been called "The Queen of Tchotchke's," and that
was the name I chose......Tchotchke's!
Before I made a final decision on the name I thought I ought to find out the
definition (to be sure it wasn't perhaps risqué). I called my mother-in-law
and she read me three definitions from three different Yiddish dictionaries.
I wrote them down that day and it became our logo.
We started Tchotchke's on the 3rd of December 1997.
Theresa Mackey, who I have worked with for many years, was at my side.
We weren't certain exactly what direction we were going to take, but we knew
one thing, we were going to go for it all.
With the help of our original VERY LOYAL employees (Melanie
Crane, Jennifer Flading, Dave Przybylowski, and Steve Carmichael),
VERY LOYAL customers, and VERY LOYAL decorators, we have built a company
that we are very proud of. Our customer service, creative graphics
and quality product are hard to beat.
We also welcome our new employees, customers, and decorators. We are grateful
each and everyday because we need all of you to make this a perfect Tchochke's
pie!
